The RBS group is a large international banking and financial services company. Headquartered in Edinburgh, the Group operates in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Americas and Asia, serving more than 40 million customers.

The Group provides a wide range of products and services to personal, commercial and large corporate and institutional customers through its two principal subsidiaries, The Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest, as well as through a number of other well known brands including, Citizens, Ulster Bank, Coutts, Direct Line and Churchill.

The Group Corporate Finance function acts as lead advisor and primary point of contact on M&A activity within the Group and has an opening for a Manager to join the team.

As a Manager you will either support senior colleagues on larger, more complex transactions or play more of a lead role on smaller deals. Regardless of size you should expect transactions to be technically challenging, involve co-ordination of a number of diverse internal departments and external parties and to be of strategic importance to RBS.

Responsibilities will generally extend to:

  • transaction valuation and evaluation
  • critique of and assistance in presentation of the business case
  • negotiation and execution advice
  • management of due diligence
  • project management
  • guidance and advice on Group procedures

You must possess in-depth experience of M&A transactions gained either in an M&A advisory role or within a similar in-house corporate development team. Ideally you will be a qualified chartered accountant and have specialist knowledge of the financial services sector, although neither is essential if you have particularly strong M&A experience. You must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong academic achievement
  • Technical ability, particularly in relation to valuation and corporate finance issues
  • Ability to communicate and influence management
  • Project management experience, operating to tight deadlines
  • Strategic insight and commercial awareness
  • Appreciation of corporate law as it impacts M&A work

With us, hard work adds up to more. Our rewards include a generous salary, the opportunity to participate in bonus schemes and discounted Group products. Plus we offer a 25% benefit funding that gives you the option of choosing your own mix of cash and benefits... All of which creates a truly flexible benefits package that fits your changing needs and lifestyle.
